WE DID IT. BUT HOW.

This article is called “WE DID IT, BUT HOW” So, what did we do? People say many things and do many things. So what area am I talking about? Physical, mental emotional, social or spiritual? When I say “WE” you must assume it is not just me, and there must be more than one. That means that something must have been accomplished. Let’s see what Reddit says about this phrase. “We Did It- Reddit!” is an ironic expression used by members of the social news site Reddit to bring undue credit to themselves for their involvement in the resolution of a major event, especially when the effectiveness of their crowd-sourced efforts stands in dispute.”

WE DID IT, OR I DID IT. Either of these can be positive or negative. Am I talking about accomplishments in sports, entertainment, riches, big business or many other categories? If I did it, then only I get the credit, and do not share the accomplishment with anyone else. Let’s all be honest here; every person has the need to accomplish certain things in the lives. We as parents always want to see our children succeed and excel in life. We spend a lifetime teaching and training them to be successful in life. Any parent who truly loves their children want to see their children do more and have greater success then they have. This is our way of life. And we have the experience to teach them, not to make the same mistakes we have made. Notice, there is no “I” in “WE.”

NEVER LEAVE THE LORD OUT

We live in a world of arrogance and ego. We live in a me, me, me, I, I, I, generation and culture. It is all about what I can do or accomplish, or get. That is most people’s goal and desire. What I can achieve or acquire. How much material things I can acquire and control. I have to have it, and get it, to be successful, so others will admire me, and want to be like me. Importance, fame and money is their ultimate goal.

NEVER LEAVE THE LORD OUT OF ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE. Here is why. Acts 17:28 “ For in him (Jesus Christ) we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” You cannot even exist without Him. Christ is the only true one who can say “I” and be self-sufficient. We are the creation of the Creator. And you truly need to understand this one. John 15:5 “ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” That should knock the starch out of so many stiff shirts, who actually think, they rule and control themselves and everyone else. Money, power and things have become their “gods.”

Dear Reader, Whatever you think you can accomplish or acquire in this world, will be worthless and burned up like trash, in the end. Only one life will soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last. II Corinthians 5:10 “10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

LEAVING GOD OUT OF YOUR LIFE

I agree with the deceased Reverend Billy Graham when he said: “The Bible puts it this way: “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” (James 4:1). Even if we have enough, we always want more. Even if we are taught to respect others, someone will always want to control them or even enslave them. Even if all our needs are met, jealousy and greed capture our souls. Why are we this way? The reason is because we’ve left God out of our lives. As a result, we all have a deadly spiritual disease — a disease the Bible calls “sin.” That’s why we need Christ, for only He can change our hearts and replace our selfishness and greed with His love. Has this happened in your life? I pray it will — and it can, and as you turn to Christ and invite Him to come into your heart, life, and mind today.”

From Lovely Greatly, I post this wisdom that we all need. “From Ecclesiastes 1:14-2:23God is left out. And before we’re too hard on forgetful Solomon, it’s an epidemic that as Jesus-followers you and I are often just as guilty of…

We’re full of confident Jesus-talk at church on Sundays, but Monday through Saturday we barely mention His name.

We’ll stay up all night worrying about tomorrow, without ever a thought of taking it to the Lord in prayer.

We debate world news and politics with personal opinions and despair but fail to reference our trust in a sovereign God.

We measure our worth by what the world says is successful and feel defeated when we fall short, instead of confidently standing in who we are in Christ.

When God is left out, our wisdom becomes worldly. It doesn’t take long, does it? The longer we spend time away from God’s Word – especially in times of doubt – the more we let the world’s words and ways take over in our hearts and minds instead of Truth. Beloved, the world’s wisdom never, ever satisfies. But wisdom from God is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. – James 3:17

When God is left out, our witness suffers. Our lives are constantly telling a story – pointing others either to or away from Christ. When we leave God out of our answers to this life, we are not only contributing to our own futility; we also miss the opportunity to speak hope and truth to a dying world. God has called us to go into all the world and preach the gospel (Matthew 28:19). How can we preach the gospel to the lost if we can’t even preach it to ourselves?

When God is left out, our souls are left longing. Augustine summarized it best: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they can find rest in You.” Even when Solomon acknowledged that wisdom is better than folly, his heart was still restless at the thought of death that comes to all. Similarly, our tendency towards gospel-amnesia takes our focus off of the fact that for the believer, death is not the end… and that whatever we acquire in this world can never compare to a relationship with God and eternity in heaven with Him.”

CONCLUSION

I started this article with “WE, I, AND ME.” WE DID IT.” I talked about accomplishments and who gets the credit for whatever labor was performed. Sadly, in this world it is “I DID IT, I AM DOING IT.”  Think about that statement. Years ago, I went to numerous people and asked this: FOR OR WITH? People being confused, I explained the question. What are you doing FOR GOD? I would get some answers like, well I am teaching Sunday School for God. I sing in the choir for God. I talk to people and witness for God.

Then I asked the biggest question. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH GOD? How is God INVOLVED in what you are doing? Is it “I” DID IT “For God” or is it “We” did it together? With God? “WE DID IT.” Those are almost OPPOSITES but have 2 separate meanings.

I am age 47 (I inverted that number). As a parent with children as they grow and learn there are many things’ Parents have to do for their children. Any Parent knows this, because they have not matured or are not able to do those things. Now I am older and limited in what I can do. My children help me and do things “FOR” me, that I am no longer able to do for myself. I APPRECIATE THAT MORE THAN THEY KNOW

Then there are things that “WE” get to do together “WITH” each other, where “WE” are actively involved together. “WE DID IT.” Both FOR and WITH are beneficial but which one do you think is most meaningful and productive? Have our lives become so busy that it is easier to exclude God from what we do? How do you think God feels when He is left out. Dear Christian? Do we not realize how God placed the Holy Spirit in us at our Salvation.

The Holy Spirit is there to lead us, teach us and guild us. Do we actually set out to do things FOR God, rather than WITH God? Do people do what they want and think and just disregard the Holy Spirit that lives in us? Hebrews 13:5 “I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.” I NEVER want to forsake God in my life. I NEED HIM MORE THAN HE NEEDS ME

If you are not a Christian and have not accepted Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior, then you are an eternal loser. We all make mistakes; we do wrong things, and we know it. God calls that SIN and will never accept it. He sent his only begotten son Jesus, to pay for OUR SINS. It cost Jesus his very life and blood. He became our substitute in taking our place and punishment for sin. Jesus Resurrection was Gods approval and acceptance and forgiveness of ALL SIN. Heaven is real and so is Hell. You have an eternal choice to make. Be eternally forgiven or be eternally condemned for sin. Romans 10:13 says, “For who so ever shall call (ASK) on the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.” If Jesus Christ is not your lord and savior, will you do that now? Bow you heart, look up to heaven and ask for forgiveness and God will save you instantly. NOW YOU CAN SAY, “WE DID IT. BUT HOW”
