This article is called, “NO EVIDENCE.” I have had on my mind for a very long time why a certain incident in the Bible concerning Jesus and the Apostle Peter took place. It come from the Bible and occurred in John 18:10 Now I understand what the true meaning of what happened there and then and what it means for us, all Christians who have ever been saved and born again. But will also apply to any lost non-believer also if they will turn to Christ and give their life to Him through Salvation. John 18 tells the story of Jesus’ arrest, Peter’s denial, and Jesus’ trial, explained in simple and clear language. AS easy English Bible says.

Arrest in the Garden

“Jesus and His disciples went to a garden across the Kidron Valley, a place they often visited. Judas, who betrayed Jesus, led soldiers and temple officers to arrest Him. When Jesus asked, “Who are you looking for?” and said, “I am He,” the soldiers fell back, showing His authority. Jesus allowed His disciples to go free, fulfilling His earlier promise that none of those given to Him would be lost (John 18:1-9).

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:

9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him. 3 And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. Dear Reader, Peter followed after Jesus arrest to see where they were taking Jesus and what would happen. Then through fear denied the Lord 3 times. Just moments earlier Peter had taken a sword and cut off the ear of the high priest servant Malchus. Jesus had healed Malchus ear and put it back on his head. Peter could have been tried and executed for that act against a high official. Why was Peter not arrested and tried for this crime? Why was Peter not charged for the crime he had committed. I mean he was evidentally guilty. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THE CRIME, Malchus had both ears.

Peter’s Denial

While Jesus was questioned by the high priest, Peter stood nearby to keep warm. People recognized him as a disciple, but Peter denied knowing Jesus three times, fulfilling Jesus’ earlier prediction (John 18:15-27). This shows human weakness and fear, but also sets the stage for later restoration.

Jesus Before the High Priest

Jesus was questioned about His teaching and disciples. He answered that He had taught openly in synagogues and the temple, so anyone could verify His words. When a soldier struck Him for speaking truthfully, Jesus responded calmly, showing His commitment to honesty and justice (John 18:19-24).

Jesus’ control and courage: Even when arrested, He faced His enemies without fear.Faithfulness to God’s plan: Jesus allowed events to unfold according to God’s will.Human weakness and forgiveness: Peter’s denial reminds us that people can fail, but God’s plan continues.Truth and integrity: Jesus spoke the truth even under threat, teaching the importance of honesty. This chapter emphasizes that Jesus willingly faced suffering, fulfilled prophecy, and demonstrated both divine authority and human example, all in a way that is easy to understand for readers of any level.”

I want to share with you what I see and learn from this lesson. Peter was no different than you or me in what he did, fear causes all of us to do things that we should never do or say. At least Peter followed from a distance. Why was Peter not tried for what he did? THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A CRIME. This also sets the stage for future restoration of Peter, and you and me, by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, from His sacrifice on the cross. Just as Jesus and God the Father gave forgiveness and reconcilation to Peter, He did the very same thing to all of us, we sinners. Jesus died on the cross, saved us, took our place and He destroyed all evidence of we sinners, that separated us from the PENALTY, guilt and shame of sin. Oh what a Savior. What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus-AMEN

CONCLUSION

What should we understand and learn from this lesson and scripture? We should about Gods mercy, goodness, forgiveness, His sacrifice for us, The punishment and evidence of sin for everyone. CHRIST TOOK MY PLACE AND YOUR PLACE, AND PAID FOR OUR SINS, ALL OF THEM. JESUS TOOK AWAY ALL THE EVIDENCE THAT SEPARATED US FROM GOD AND PAID THE PENALTY FOR US. GOD NOW SEE’S US AS SONS AND DAUGHTERS IN HIS FAMILY, FORGIVEN AND CLEANSED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

II Corinthians 5:17-19KJV “17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” THANK YOU FATHER AND JESUS FOR OUR FORGIVENESS, RESTORATION AND RECONCILATION. Dear Reader do you understand all that God offers to you forever?

Jesus had to be both God and man. As God, Jesus could satisfy God’s wrath. As a man, Jesus had the capability of dying. As the God-man, Jesus is the perfect Mediator between heaven and earth (1 Timothy 2:5). Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ. As He proclaimed, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).”

CONCLUSION

I ask you the question of, “who is Jesus?’ Now I answer, where is Jesus? Most believers will say, “Jesus is in heaven, and that is true. But Jesus is right here in me, he lives in me in the person of the Holy Spirit and has promised to never leave me or forsake me. And that has now been 52 years. Let me tell you how, so that you will know, how to have a real personal relationship with Him, and yes it is very personal.

Will You, turn from yourself and turn to God, for FORGIVENESS and have a personal relationship with Him. God will save you and give you eternal life with him just as He did with me. It’s all yours for the asking. Again Romans 10:13 “For who so ever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Will you, Bow your heart, turn to Him, and ASK, CALL ON HIM. He will instantly SAVE YOU. JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM SIN.  YOU CAN BE GODS CHILDREN, SAVED AND FORGIVEN FOR ALL ETERNITY.
